Who you're dealing with
Feal Insurance Agency was opened in 2009 above a hardware shop on Biashara Street, with one
desk, one landline and a client list of eleven. The first policy we ever placed was a
third-party motor cover for a carpenter in Gikomba. He is still a client.
We are an independent brokerage, which in practice means we earn our keep by placing your
risk well rather than by pushing one company's product. We are licensed by the Insurance
Regulatory Authority and we are members of the Association of Kenya Insurance Brokers. Our
commission is disclosed to you in writing before you sign anything.
Today we run a team of nine — four placement officers, two claims handlers, a credit
controller and two people on the phones — from offices in Westlands. Roughly a third of our
book is commercial, a third is motor and personal lines, and a third is medical and life.
We turn down work we cannot do properly, which is why we don't sell unit trusts or
mortgages.
